by Pitt’s first NCAA tournament game in seven years was a game to remember, and the Panthers showed the nation they were indeed a tournament team.
Though Pitt was off center starting due to injury and the first-team All-ACC was in nasty trouble for most of the game, Pitt stayed there with a tough, physical Mississippi State team and made all the clutch plays down stretch to pulling out a 60-59 win.
Pitt’s senior class of Greg Elliott, Nike Sibande, Nelly Cummings and Jamarius Burton were clutching as Pitt won his first tournament game since 2013-14.
