Character stats for the latest Street Fighter 5 Capcom Cup Last Chance Qualifier tournament

Almost exactly 7 years after the game’s release, Street Fighter 5 is getting ready to ride into the sunset, but not before they have to go through another massive event to crown their final world champion.

With the absolutely stacked last chance qualifier for Capcom Cup 9 just coming to an end, we decided to take a look at the character usage stats for one of the last major SF5 brackets to see which fighters are here for the year Still making an impression in 2023.

We’ve broken down the entire top 32 of the LCQ, which equates to the top 22% of players who actually showed up to compete, and found some unexpected surprises in there.

Despite Luke being hailed as the absolute best character in SF5 over the past year, we’ve only seen 2 players make the top bracket with him and only Rohto | Tokido managed to crack the top 8.

In fact, reports of Urien’s death seem to have been somewhat exaggerated considering he was the most popular choice with M. Bison and all 3 made at least the top 12.

Beyond that, though, we continue to see a nice variety of picks in the cast of 21 characters seeing the main game in the top 32, and only 8 of those were repeats.

This LCQ gave us a chance to see some fighters play well that we haven’t been seeing that much of lately, including AZ|Kichopa-mu who is tied for second place with Alex and Zangief as well as a few others fun options like Oro, Menat, Blanka and Ryu.

That still leaves about half of the cast who didn’t receive substitution, but those numbers are as good as you could hope for in this kind of hyper-competitive environment.
